FAQ

What is the 720-478?

It is an Airaid reusable oiled air filter for a dimension-matched clamp-on intake.

How is fitment determined?

This is selected by flange size, overall dimensions and intake layout, not simply by vehicle year or brand. The flange is 4.25 in (108 mm) and the filter height is 7.5 in (191 mm).

Is the filter washable?

Yes. Clean it with the Airaid procedure and service product intended for this media, then allow it to dry fully.

Does the media require oil?

Yes. This is an oiled-media version. Follow the filter-specific re-oiling procedure and amount; do not saturate the media.

Is a complete intake included?

No. The listing supplies one replacement filter, not a tube, heat shield or complete vehicle intake system.

Can another filter with the same flange be substituted?

Not automatically. Also compare height, taper or oval shape, flange offset and available clearance.

How often should it be serviced?

Inspect according to operating conditions. Heavy dust, off-road use and contamination can require more frequent cleaning than normal road use.

Is a horsepower increase guaranteed?

No fixed gain is promised for a replacement filter. Results depend on the complete engine and intake configuration.

Installation Instructions

1. Measure the existing mounting connection and compare every filter dimension before removing the old filter.
2. Clean the mounting flange and prevent debris from entering the intake.
3. Seat the replacement fully, secure it using the intake manufacturers clamp procedure, and check surrounding clearance.
4. Inspect the seal and confirm the filter cannot contact hot, moving or sharp components.

Review the manufacturer product and service information.
