ARB Shim Driver

This ARB drivetrain component is the Shim Driver. Confirm the exact axle or differential model, spline count, gear ratio, carrier break, bearing and seal requirements, air-system compatibility, and all application notes before ordering.

Key Features

• Insufficient carrier bearing pre-load can result in premature bearing failure and ring and pinion failure in all differentials and possible oil/air leakage issues in an Air Locker differential.
• Dana Spicer model 44) require the pre-load shims to be tapped into place in order to achieve the required pre-load during set-up.
• ARB Air Locker Shim Driver Set Reduces the risk of damaging carrier bearing shims as they are installed.Development – To ensure we meet your expectations ARB invests heavily in research and development.
• With an air bag equipped vehicle for example it is essential that the vehicle’s crush rate and air bag triggering is not altered when a bull bar is installed.
• What’s more we’re also constantly on the lookout for new ways to improve our business practices from distribution to customer service.
• This allows thinner shims to be inserted into tighter places than would be possible without the Shim Driver.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I confirm this fits the intended application?
Match the axle or differential model, spline count, gear ratio, carrier break, bearing and seal requirements, and every application note.

Does an ARB Air Locker include the compressor and air system?
Only components expressly listed for this exact part are included. Compressors, manifolds, switches, air line, bearings, seals, and installation kits may be separate.

Is professional differential setup required?
Differential installation requires correct backlash, bearing preload, gear contact, torque, sealing, and air-line routing. Qualified drivetrain installation is recommended.

Installation Instructions

1. Confirm ARB part number 0770004, the complete application, and every required supporting component before beginning work.
2. Use the correct service procedure to inspect the axle and differential, then set bearings, backlash, contact pattern, fasteners, seals, and air-line routing to specification.
3. Fill with the specified lubricant, test air-system operation when applicable, inspect for leaks and abnormal noise, and recheck after the initial driving cycle.
