This Baer Remaster 6801272LP master cylinder replaces a bulky cast unit with a one piece 6061 T6 billet aluminium body in a 15/16 inch bore, with left side ports and a two bolt mounting flange that suits many Ford and GM applications. The outlet design accepts either inverted flare or banjo fittings, so the plumbing can be routed cleanly, and the billet top with two knurled screw on caps makes filling simple.

Key Features

  • The billet top is attached with 6 allen screws and has two large billet aluminum, knurled screw-on caps making for easy filling without spillage.
  • This Remaster master cylinder features a small, compact, 1-piece body machined out of 6061 T6 billet aluminum with a 15/16″ bore, left side ports and a 2-bolt mounting flange fitting many Ford and GM applications.
  • The unique outlet port design allows for either inverted flare (w/included removable seats) or banjo style, straight fittings.

Fitment

Application Requirement Notes
Universal application Two bolt mounting flange Suits many Ford and GM applications
Universal application Long or short booster, or manual brakes Bullet for booster use is included
Universal application Left side port plumbing A right port version is available separately

Confirm the mounting flange bolt spacing, pushrod arrangement and the side the brake lines run before ordering. Bore size must suit the caliper piston area and the booster or manual pedal setup in the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bore size is this master cylinder?
It uses a 15/16 inch bore. Bore size changes pedal effort and the volume of fluid moved, so match it to the caliper piston area and the booster or manual setup in the car.

Which vehicles can use this master cylinder?
The two bolt mounting flange suits many Ford and GM applications. Measure the existing flange bolt spacing and the pushrod arrangement before ordering, because this is a universal fit part rather than a listed vehicle replacement.

What fittings can I use in the outlet ports?
The ports accept inverted flare fittings when the supplied removable brass seats are installed, or straight banjo style fittings when the seats are removed.

Which side are the ports on?
This version has left side ports. A right port version is offered separately for cars where the plumbing runs down the other side.

Installation Instructions

  1. Work on a cool vehicle, disconnect the battery negative terminal and protect painted surfaces from brake fluid.
  2. Note the routing and thread sizes of the existing brake lines before anything is disconnected.
  3. Bench bleed the new master cylinder before installation so the bore is primed.
  4. Remove the original master cylinder from the booster or firewall mounting studs and cap the open lines.
  5. Decide between inverted flare and banjo fittings, then fit or remove the supplied brass seats to match.
  6. Mount the master cylinder to the two bolt flange and check that the pushrod or bullet engages squarely with the piston.
  7. Set pushrod engagement so there is a small amount of free play and the piston is not held partly applied.
  8. Connect the front and rear outlet lines and start every fitting by hand before tightening.
  9. Fill both reservoirs with fresh fluid of the specification required by the vehicle and bleed the system in the sequence given in the factory service information.
  10. Confirm a firm pedal with no fluid weeping at any fitting, then check pedal height and free play.
  11. Road test at low speed in a safe area, confirm balanced stopping, then recheck all fittings and the fluid level.
